Hale & Hound makes beds, mats, and everyday gear for dogs and cats who deserve better than an afterthought.
We started because we couldn't find a dog bed that was actually supportive without costing a fortune you can read the full story on Our Story page, but the short version is: an old dog, a bad hip, and a lot of frustrated searching led us here.
These days that same instinct still runs the company. Before anything goes up on this site, it's been slept on, scratched at, chewed near, and generally lived with by a real pet in someone's actual home. We're not interested in products that look good in a listing photo and fall apart in six weeks. Orthopedic foam that keeps its shape. Covers that survive the washing machine, repeatedly, without the zip giving out. Harnesses that don't dig in on a long walk. If it doesn't hold up to that, it doesn't go on the site.
We're a small team, which means a few things: we read every review, we notice patterns in what people ask for, and when something isn't working, like a size running small, a color that photographs differently to how it looks in person, we hear about it directly and we fix it, rather than it disappearing into a support queue somewhere.
We sell for both dogs and cats because most households we know have some combination of the two, often with wildly different ideas about what "comfortable" means. So whether you've got a big dog with joint pain, a kitten who wants to shred something that isn't your sofa, or both curled up in the same sunny spot, our job is to make that easier.
That's really it. No grand mission statement beyond: pets deserve gear that's actually built for them, and so do the people looking after them.
